Stephen Mair - Investigator

Stephen was a career firefighter with United States Government for 27 years. During that time Stephen was promoted to the rank of Captain and retired at that rank on August 31, 2019. Stephen has received numerous accommodations from the United States Army and United States Air Force during his tenure as a Federal Firefighter.


During Stephen's career, he has obtained numerous nationally recognized certifications, Firefighter I & II, Fire Officer I, II, & III, Fire Inspector I & II, Hazardous Materials Technician & Hazardous Materials Specialist just to name a few. Stephen was also a member of the Albany County Hazardous Materials Team where he responded to numerous Incidents throughout the Capital District in New York State post 9/11.


Stephen is a certified fire and explosive investigator with the National Association of Fire Investigators and is a member of the International Association of Fire Investigators Chapter 23. Stephen has on emphasis on being thorough and focuses on detail when it comes to investigating the origin and cause of fires on each one of his assignments.


Stephen has also served his country in the United States Navy from 4/25/1982 and was honorably discharged 1/28/1988. During his career in the military, he achieved the rank of second-class petty officer E-5 and received the Navy Achievement Medal, Battle Efficiency Ribbon, Navy Good Conduct Medal, Navy Sea Service Ribbon and Enlisted Surface Warfare Badge. Stephen was deployed throughout the world on the guided missile frigate USS Hawes FFG-53 with Destroyer Squadron 12 out of Charleston South Carolina and Norfolk Virginia during his time in the military.


When Stephen is not investigating fires he enjoys bowhunting, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
