Bill L. Haynes - Investigator

Bill started in the fire service in 1975 with the Sennett Fire Department and retired at the end of 2017 as Chief of Fire. He later became a Fire District Commissioner for 2 years. In 1997, Bill was awarded Fire Fighter of the Year and is a New York State Certified Fire Fighter I. Bill was appointed to the Cayuga County Fire Investigation Team in 1999 and is still currently a County Fire Investigator.


Bill is a New York State Certified Level II Fire Investigator, NFPA 1033 Nationally Pro Board-Certified Fire Investigator, and a National Association of Fire Investigators Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator. In 2017, he received both Jack Meehan Memorial Photography Awards for Accidental Photography and Incendiary Photography from the New York State Fire Investigators Association, Chapter #23 of the IAAI, and in 2018, he was awarded for Accidental Photography again.


Bill was a Navy SEABEE (SCW), he retired from the United States Naval Reserve with over 20 years of service and in 1991 was awarded SAILOR OF THE QUARTER. He was deployed to Ground Zero on 9/11 and received an Admirable Service Letter from Governor George E. Pataki. Bill is a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators, Inc., MIAAI, National Fire Protection Association, National Association of Fire Investigators, New York State Fire Investigators Chapter #23 IAAI, and Fire Investigation Industries.


Bill enjoys hit-and-miss engines, as well as restoring old Planet Jr. Garden Tractors.
